MISSION AND HISTORY
The Asian Art Coordinating Council (AACC) was
incorporated in 1987 as a non-profit organization dedicated to generating
new bonds of understanding between Asians and Americans through
art and cultural programs. AACC's mission is to serve as a bridge
to the discovery of the many traditional arts and cultures of Eastern
societies. By devoting its resources to organizing exhibits, educational
programs, and providing networking services, the AACC reaches out
to people from all walks of life with programs of educational and
cultural value.
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
The AACC's goal is to reach out to
people from all walks of life and to serve as a bridge to the discovery
of the arts and cultures of Asia. To this end, AACC's ongoing programs
are divided into four areas: (1) Traveling Exhibitions and Educational
Programs; (2) Asian Resource Services; (3) Student Internship Programs;
and (4) Asia Networking Services.
CONTEMPORARY ASIAN ART EXHIBITIONS
SERIES
AACC is best known for developing
and implementing the annual Contemporary Asian Art Exhibition series
(CAAE), the only event of its kind in the US featuring contemporary
Asian art. Each year since 1990 the AACC has worked in conjunction
with museums and non-profit galleries to present these exhibits
and accompanying educational programs. Art from the People's Republic
of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, India, and Japan have been featured.
